"When starting out at ComputerTraining.com, I considered myself to be educated enough to make it through the course. I knew that if I was to find a job able to provide a stable and prosperous future for my family, the time was now and the field was computers. Like many people have, I had heard the commercials on the radio telling me that all I had to do was log on and take a simple test. Next thing I know, I’m called stating that I passed the online test and was invited to come and check out the school.
I thought I would have a few months after signing up before class started. I had just had a baby four weeks earlier and was still on maternity leave. The last thing I had prepared myself for was having a newborn and starting a complex computer course. Little did I know that the hand of fate would step in and guide me exactly where I needed to be.
When I was told that there was a class that was about to start in two weeks and there was one opening left my brain said NO WAY! Somehow, my brain didn’t relay that message to my mouth and hand because I said, “I’ll do it” and signed on the dotted line. Two weeks later, I’m in class…scared out of my mind that I wouldn’t be able to keep up. I had the best support system I could have possibly had. My husband supported me and was my lifeline through it all. Not only the support of my husband, but fate stepped in again and gave me the best course instructor and classmates I could have ever hoped for. The materials were easy to follow and the pace was just fast enough that a fatigued mom could keep up and retain what she was learning. The time flew by!
Six months later, after learning all that I could and testing as much as possible I had my MCP. With this first certification, ComputerTraining.com lived up to their promise to start marketing my resume in the IT community. Two weeks before class was over, I had the opportunity to interview with Bradford-Scott Data Corporation. I was one of twelve that interviewed for the position. Three interviews later, I am their new Medical Software Trainer. I know that obtaining my MCP elevated my qualifications higher than the other applicants and got me this job.
I may only have my MCP right now, but I plan to continue studying and testing. Even though I am done with the course, my teacher will still get calls and visits with each test that I take. I will obtain my goal of MCSE. The best advice I can give is to have faith in yourself and your abilities. You know more than you think you do. Set your goals and keep working towards them. The more you learn and more certifications you get, the farther you will go."

"Although I was well educated before enrolling in ComputerTraining.com's program, my degree was not in a "marketable" field, so I spent several years working one or more part-time jobs for little pay and no benefits.
My interest in computers started mostly as a hobby, writing simple programs and eventually expanding this knowledge into database development where I occasionally found contract work. However, I had no networking experience other than what I set up with a couple of desktop computers at my home (I got it to work, but I really didn't know what I was doing). Furthermore, I did not have a computer science degree so no companies would even consider hiring me as a programmer or engineer. I did some work as a contract programmer, but jobs were sparse and it just wasn't the direction I wanted my career to take.
When I heard about ComputerTraining.com's program, I decided to investigate for several reasons:
- I enjoy working with computers and I was interested in networking even though I didn't know much about it.
- The possibility of a career with good pay and benefits.
- The short length of the program. I am in my early 40's and didn't want to spend another 2-4 years in school.
I knew the program would be intense but I was confident I could do well and finish.
After starting at ComputerTraining.com, it was immediately evident that the program was fast-paced but taught at a beginner's level, so anyone who was really interested and committed could keep up. The pace of the program required 2-4 hours each day for reading, labs, assignments, and practice certification exams; but as long as I put in the time, I did well. I simply refused to allow myself to fall very far behind with the current topic(s); and when I did fall behind, I was sure to catch up the next weekend. I believe anyone that remains committed to the program by completing all of the course work and labs, and spends plenty of time practicing the certification exams, will leave the program with at least their MCP and be well on their way to higher certifications.
The instructor at ComputerTraining.com was available for much of the day and the lab was available all day for anyone that needed the extra time and resources. I was not usually able to take advantage of these resources because of family and/or work commitments (probably not unusual for many of the people that take this course). However, it was nice to have these resources available when I did have the time. To further enhance my experience, I worked in my home repeating the lab work or making up new labs for myself. I believe the extra work paid dividends when I took the certification exams.
During the last couple of months of the program, ComputerTraining.com's career placement service started helping with advice, training, resume building, and the job search. I was amazed at how many leads the placement coordinator was able to find and the sheer number of resumes she sent out on my behalf. It wasn't long before I was getting phone calls from interested recruiters and companies. I started interviewing two months before finishing the program and was hired before I graduated—starting the very next week. I was very impressed and grateful because I limited my job search to the local area and I just was not expecting to find a salaried position with an excellent company in such a short period of time.
My new career has been wonderful. I work for a great company with excellent benefits and opportunities to move into different technical positions in order to remain challenged and interested. Although, I hope to stay with my current company for many years, I know that with my experience here, I will be able to move on to even bigger and better things if so desired. Thank you ComputerTraining.com."

"I’ve always been into computers and repairing them, but I’ve also been interested in networking. I was stuck working for a company that had promised to promote me for over five years. I decided in order to get ahead, I need certification. Now, I’m working for a company who not only pays me more, but started me two levels above my previous employer.
This was one of the best decisions I’ve made, and for anyone coming into the program, I can’t say enough good things. Study hard and put all your effort into these classes and you’ll come out ahead."

"I began working as an administrative assistant for a farm cooperative that was in the process of moving their headquarters to a new location and I was implementing a computer network. Part of my job responsibility became maintaining and expanding their computer network to include not only the corporate headquarters, but also their branch locations. After working for several years for them, I thought that it would be beneficial to me to get formal training by earning my Microsoft certifications.
I most enjoy the fact that I am getting to apply my knowledge on a daily basis for my current employer by maintaining their computer network. This knowledge has given me the confidence to feel that when I troubleshoot an issue, I will be able to correctly resolve it.
My biggest concern going into the program was a fear of not being able to find a job after completing the program. I overcame this fear by continuing to keep in contact with colleagues I had been working with while at the Co-op. This continued communication lead to an internship while I was in the program and then my first full time IT job as a Systems Engineer with a computer consulting firm.
The best advice I can give incoming students is to be diligent in your studies and to ask questions of your fellow students or the instructor on concepts that are unclear to you. Also the best way to learn the material is to actively participate in the labs that correspond with the reading material as well as the build labs that accompany the completion of each section of the program.
The overall experience of the program has made a considerable change in my outlook of my career path. The program allowed me to meet many new people and create many new friendships. Those friendships have lead to my current job as a network administrator, and I love it!"

"I have been stuck in a blue collar, dead-end job for years. I have wanted to work in the IT field ever since my interest in computers began, about fourteen years ago. Paying for an education was out of the question because I have a family and obligations without any extra money to invest in an education. I learned a great deal about computers on my own. However, I couldn’t get to the level I needed to find a good job. I used online tools and everything I could that was inexpensive to learn. I quickly realized that a good program that would teach me what I needed to know to get certified and find a new job would not come cheap.
After hearing the commercial for ComputerTraining.com, I decided to talk to them. ComputerTraining.com assured me that the program would prepare me with what I needed to succeed in a new career as long as I was committed to learn and keep my end of the obligation. Like with some of the other training programs, I had some fears that I wouldn’t make it and I would be wasting my time and money. I overcame those fears and concerns by searching myself and realizing that if I really committed myself and followed the advice of the staff here, I would make it. I am happy to say that with those tools and hard work, the dream has come true for me.
About a week after I passed my MCP certification exam, I was interviewed and offered a job working at a great company that provides IT solutions for Ely Lilly and Company. I finally got out of a factory environment and into a new class of work. Due to my lack of experience in the IT field, I started at an entry-level position that is paying me as much as I was making with over fifteen years with my previous employer. Along with great pay and benefits, the personal sense of accomplishment and what I have achieved so far is a good feeling. ComputerTraining.com has made my new career possible with their dedication to my success. My new opportunity has also provided some of my classmates with opportunities of a great job and career with the same company. ComputerTraining.com has proven their reputation for preparing individuals with the knowledge and education that employers want when they are seeking employees.
I would recommend ComputerTraining.com to anyone who wants to change their career or enter the IT field. From my experience, the certifications that are required to get a higher paying job in the IT field would be extremely difficult without the proper training and education. ComputerTraining.com provides that training, as well as a great career services department. They truly work hard for all the students to aide them in preparing for work and working with prospective employers to help those without IT experience get a foot in the door. My advice to new students would be to take advantage of what the school and the instructor have to offer. The course is not easy and will require commitment and hard work. You will get out of it what you put into it. The next six months could change your life, it is up to you.
Thank you all at ComputerTraining.com. You have made it possible for me to get a better job and start a new career in a field in which I have wanted to work in for a long time. You have kept me motivated throughout the course and continue to help me, even after graduation, in my quest to achieve more certifications and better opportunities with my employer."

"After thirteen years of retail management I decided I needed a change. I needed a career where I could spend more time with the family and make the same if not more money. As I was listening to the radio I heard a commercial for ComputerTraining.com. I took the Online Skills Challenge and the rest, as they say, is history!
Going back to school after thirteen years did make me nervous though. But as I found out, you are never too old to change your career path and learn a different skill set. ComputerTraining.com is a very challenging six-month course, but the support you receive is top notch. The instructor is always available before class starts and really wants to help you succeed. The director of Career Services gives everything to make you ready to jump into the job market and be successful. The best of all is that ComputerTraining.com is always asking for your input on how to improve the class and they are always looking to make everything even better.
My advice to someone who is thinking about signing up for the classes would be this. One, make sure you absolutely love to work with and on computers of every type and configuration. Two, don’t be scared, be excited about the opportunities and challenges ahead. Three, don’t give yourself false expectations, you only get back what you put into the classes and the program. And finally, if you have kids or extended family make sure you have them supporting you because you will need more time to yourself to be successful in the program.
Overall my experience with the ComputerTraining.com program has been very positive and exciting. I have made some new friends and colleagues. I have successfully gained employment in the IT industry making more money than when I started my management career. I am making a better life for myself and my family doing something that I really enjoy. Good luck and have a great life!"

"I have been in the administrative field for most of my professional career and was always considered a "power computer user" based on my ability to learn the systems and programs that I was asked to use. I decided to make a career change and get educated because I kept being asked to do IT work without receiving IT compensation.
The IT industry is fairly unique because you can choose to work in whatever environment you like. I choose to work with people - so I accepted a position with a company where the IT department is utilized daily to interact with end-users to help them troubleshoot and learn to use their computers more effectively. The job changes daily and is definitely never boring!
My main fear was that I would be unable to understand the material and keep up with my class. After just a few days - it was clear that the instructor was very good at making the material understandable not just for me, but for everyone and I was able to do very well. I was also a little worried that I wouldn't be able to find a job that would utilize my past experience as well as my new training and certifications. The Career Services department was extremely helpful and had me set up for interviews even before I graduated from class. I was hired at my current job only two days after graduating!
I am now in charge of the entire IT department at an established company. We support over 100 end users and the department has grown from just two IT professionals to two full time IT personnel and two part time IT assistants. Obviously, my compensation level has increased, but my overall job satisfaction has increased a great deal more."

"I’ve always enjoyed working with computers ever since I was a kid. Having worked as a restaurant manager for several years, I was ready to make a career change. I didn’t have any real experience in the IT industry so I chose ComputerTraining.com to get the hands on experience to earn a position doing something that I actually enjoy.
My biggest fear before entering the program was that I wouldn’t be able to find a job without actual experience in the field. But I found a higher paying job even before completing the program! I like my new career because of the independence and I’m doing something that I actually enjoy. The advice I would give to new students entering the program is to study hard and never give up. The material is difficult, but if it weren’t - everyone would do it. I definitely have more opportunities now than I ever have after completing the program."

"My main reason for getting certified was a desire for better job than the position in which I was in at the time. I did not have a lot of computer knowledge, but I had an understanding of the basics. I could install the OS, programs, hard drives, video cards, and power supplies.
It is rewarding to know that I went from doing a very physical job to a job that allowed me to think through problems. The wear and tear that my body does not have to go through anymore is a great benefit, as is not having to take pay cuts!
I had a few concerns before I started. The biggest was the length of the course. It seemed too short to me. It is great that is only takes six months, but its important to realize that you have to sacrifice to get the work done, which is exactly what I was told before signing up.
The advice that I would give is make sure you have enough time to give to the work because if you’re not prepared, then you are just wasting your time and money.
My life and career have both been changed in a very positive way. I like going to work and enjoy what I do. When you enjoy your work it does not feel like a job. I have a wide range of opportunities now that I didn’t have six months ago."

"I had been involved with computers on some level from a very young age. I started freelance consulting four years before attending class at ComputerTraining.com, but had a hard time landing any major business contracts without proper certification.
With my new certifications, I have found I am in greater demand. I started a new job at a very competitive wage, and the offers are still coming! No matter how much experience you may have in the field, ComputerTraining.com will fill the gaps in your knowledge to get you properly certified.
My biggest fear entering the program was the sheer amount of material to be covered in the six short months of school. My trainer personally helped whenever I had trouble, really helping me pull through the course and be successful. This program is an investment and it is not easy, but if you have the drive and focus it takes, ComputerTraining.com is a great place to expand your knowledge and change your future!
Undoubtedly, the certifications I received during the course landed me the job I have now, as well as the offers that are still rolling in. I have built up a peer network of IT professionals, and you can’t put a value on that! After I graduated, I served an internship helping two more classes accomplish their certification goals. That experience has proven itself invaluable in helping train my co-workers in networking skills."
